SACRAMENTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The California Hotel & Lodging Association announced the Stars of the Industry award winners at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines Hotel in La Jolla, CA. The Stars of the Industry awards, presented by USA TODAY, were given out in nine categories including, new this year, the Stevan Porter Emerging Hospitality Leader of the Year Award and the Technology Innovation of the Year Award.

The winners of the Outstanding Lodging Employee of the Year award were:

  • Tyler Layton, Guest Services Agent - Hotel Abri, San Francisco
  • Matt Van Hoorebeke, Bellman - Chancellor Hotel on Union Square, San Francisco
  • Norman Rodriguez, Restaurant Supervisor - The Westin Pasadena, Pasadena

The winners of the Outstanding Manager of the Year award were:

  • Diane Pham, Banquet & Leisure Sales Manager – Hilton Garden Inn San Diego/Del Mar, San Diego
  • Damien Keller, Director of Sales – Orchard Hotel San Francisco
  • David R. Kirken, Director of Operations – La Quinta Resort & Club and PGA West, La Quinta

The winners of the Outstanding General Manager of the Year award were:

  • Bill Phelps, General Manager – Hadsten House Inn & Spa, Solvang
  • Douglas R. Korn, General Manager – The US Grant, San Diego
  • Terri Haack, EVP & Managing Director – Terranea Resort, Rancho Palos Verdes

The Stevan Porter Emerging Hospitality Leader Award recognizes exemplary employees under age 30 who have demonstrated superior professional dedication, leadership, and a fresh perspective at their job. The 2010 winners were Michelle Holmberg of Hotel Nikko in San Francisco and Drew Berry of L'Ermitage in Beverly Hills.

Community Service Awards went to:

  • Hotel Nikko, San Francisco
  • Hallmark Inn, Davis.

Guest Relations Awards went to:

  • The Doubletree Guest Suites, Anaheim
  • Glorietta Bay Inn, Coronado

Special Events Awards:

  • The US Grant, San Diego – One Time Only
  • W Los Angeles-Westwood, Los Angeles - Ongoing

Good Earthkeeping Award winners were:

  • Hotel Durant, Berkeley
  • W San Francisco, San Francisco

The Technology Innovation Award recognizes a member that has used advances in technology to optimize its performance regarding guest services, cost reduction and/or revenue growth. The Technology Innovation Award winner was Lather, based in Pasadena.

The Hotels that Help special recognition award winner was:

  • Lotus Hotels & Investments, Walnut Creek
