Levin law firm, two others to represent hotels, restaurants with BP claims Posted: 26 Aug 2010 11:46 PM PDT The Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association on Thursday announced a partnership with three law firms — the Levin Papantonio firm of Pensacola, Weitz & Luxenberg of New York and Cooney & Conway of Chicago — to represent hotels and restaurants with claims against BP. The partnership reflects frustration with claims administrator Ken Feinberg's decision to make proximity to the spill a component of claims recovery. "Whether you are in the Panhandle or whether you are in the another part of Florida, tourism has been down as a result of the oil spill and the media attention and will not recover for many years, causing economic loss of revenue and profits for hotels and restaurants throughout the state," attorney Perry Weitz said. Brian Barr of Levin Papantonio called the losses suffered by Florida restaurant and hotel owners "staggering." "BP does not seem to believe the true cost of its conduct," he said.
